I am the film is based on Kalam chhotu character is a poor boy and was inspired by Rajasthani APJ Abdul Kalam. The plot is about his desire to learn to read.
Chhotu is a smart guy, who belongs to a poor family in Rajasthan. Born into poverty, is forced to find work at a food stall along the road the owner Bhati single type. Chhotu is quick to learn and Bhati impressive skills. Near the food stand is a heritage hotel in the palace of an ancient royal family. Chhottu befriends the prince of the royal family alone, but the prince is forbidden by his father, to mingle with the commoners.
One day chhotu watches President APJ Abdul Kalam on television, and it inspires him. Chhotu changes its name to Kalam and decides he wants to meet the president. He studied in his spare time and wrote a speech to the Prince for a competition. The speech won first prize in the competition, but soon after the guards look Kalam room and find clothes of the prince. Kalam is labeled a thief, not revealing the source of his clothes to protect the prince from his father.
